Daily Routine
Afternoons bring more dynamic adventure as campers continue their paddle, stopping for picnic-style lunches at remote coves. Following a break, the group engages in beach games, nature photography, or hands-on lessons about local ecosystems. Campers may practice advanced paddling skills or prepare for campsite setup by scouting a location. The team works together to pitch tents and gather firewood, creating a sense of camaraderie and independence as the day winds down.
Evenings offer a chance to reflect on the day’s adventures as the group gathers around a campfire for a communal meal. As the sun sets over Sechelt Inlet, campers engage in storytelling, group discussions, or learning about the area’s history and conservation efforts. This is a time for bonding, shared experiences, and deepening connections with both nature and fellow participants. Evening talks often touch on Indigenous cultures and local wildlife, offering insight and inspiration.
Nights on the expedition are tranquil and peaceful, as campers settle into their sleeping bags beneath a blanket of stars. After ensuring the campfire is extinguished, some enjoy a bit of stargazing or listening to the quiet sounds of the wilderness. Without structured nighttime activities, the focus shifts to the calming natural environment, providing a serene atmosphere for restful sleep. The calm and cool night air ensures campers are rejuvenated for the next day’s adventures.
Workshops
At the BC Explorer Paddle Expedition, campers immerse themselves in a curriculum that weaves together Indigenous perspectives, global citizenship, and leadership skills. Workshops focus on team-building, communication games, and exploring real-world environments. Participants practice self-knowledge through leadership profiles, social-emotional learning, and discussions about Western climate science. The program encourages participants to think critically about climate change, strengthening their leadership abilities and preparing them to engage meaningfully with environmental and social challenges.
Excursions
The Sechelt Inlet Canoeing Route takes paddlers through serene waters, past lush forests, secluded coves, and stunning coastal scenery, offering an unforgettable wilderness adventure rich in exploration.
